Qantas is the third airline in the world to take delivery and fly the new Airbus A380

The new Qantas A380 will be progressively introduced on selected flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Los Angeles from late October 2008. The Qantas A380 will also be progressively introduced on selected flights from Sydney to Singapore and London from mid January 2009.

Qantas stands for Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services and it is the world's second oldest continuously operated airline. The "Flying Kangaroo" was originally founded in Winton in Central Queensland and later moved to Longreach. Qantas gradually expanded, building its own planes and starting the much-needed Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia to serve the large Australian outback.

Australia's largest airline, Qantas has consistently been considered one of the world's best and safest airlines. Their fleet consists of the following aircraft Airbus A330-200, Airbus A330-300, Airbus A380-800, Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-400, Boeing 737-800, Boeing 747-300, Boeing 747-400, Boeing 747-400ER, Boeing 767-300ER, Boeing 787-8, Boeing 787-9. Overall Qantas and its subsidiaries (including Jetstar) have over 220 aircraft in their fleet.

The Qantas Club Lounge

The Qantas Club is the airline transit lounge for Qantas airline passengers. First and Business Class passengers are given complementary entry into the lounge as are Qantas Club members and Gold and Platinum frequent flyers.

Qantas Frequent Flyer Program

The Qantas Frequent Flyer Program is an airline rewards program that rewards loyal customer's points on the basis of miles flown and airline class flown. The program offers many other partnerships with credit card companies, rental car companies and hotels. The program is free to join for non Australia and New Zealand residents and once a member, passengers become a Bronze Frequent Flyer. Passengers collect both airline miles and status points which go towards achieving a high frequent flyer status and additional benefits such as complimentary Qantas Club access and flight upgrades. Qantas is a member of the One World airline alliance which allows frequent flyers to accrue points on designated other One World airline flights.

Qantas A380

The arrival of the new Qantas A380 has sparked great excitement in the world of International travel! This new service seats 450 passengers in four different classes: First Class, International Business, International Premium Economy and International Economy. In every class you will experience excellent customer service, with all the pampering, comfort, entertainment and technology to allow you to enjoy the long hours to your destination.

The A380 even has it's own Premium Business Lounge, perfect for those travelers on business trips to catch up with colleagues on board. All passengers have their own flatscreen television, USB, internet port and power outlets for their laptops and a personal phone.

The comfort levels onboard surpass expectations in air travel! If you are lucky enough to travel in First Class and International Business overnight, you will have the luxury of a flatbed and complimentary pyjamas!
